I call this art fair the “Sensationa” art fair. All the artwork is sensational, eye catching and eye popping. It seems to reside in the world of eye popping, eye candy type work that is executed on an exceptional level, but may not contain a lot of substance behind it. Visually amazing, check it out

Dissapointing art fair. the space is way to small and cramped to allow the artwork to breath. Felt like a dirty pile of laundry.

High quality art is back with a fresh exhibition of artwork from major galleries around the world. You definitely see repeating artists and their work, but is seemed like this year the galleries tried to keep it fresh and updated. Worth the crowds, check it out.

Best fair of the year! Lots of space and room for the art to breath and the quality of the work was amazing, refreshing and forward looking. If you go to any fair this year, this is the one to check out!
Spring Art Shows Roll into Town— If only the snow and the shit weather would roll out! Opening this week and weekend are the Armory, Volta, Scope, Art on Paper, Independent and other ancillary fairs chock full of fresh new work to tempt your eyes and your wallets. For local fun Thursday night check out Skarstedt Gallery and their Keith Haring show as well as The Unix Gallery show featuring paintings by Ellen de Meijer. So cool and sublime, you have to check them out in person!
The dull ache of winter—The only cure is more performance art! Casey Kaplan Gallery is opening up a new space on 27th Street (This could be the New Chelsea as Galleries move to more affordable locations in the flower district near the Ace Hotel) featuring sound works and live performance that could be multi-sensorial and intense. This massive paintings feel very urgent and quick, drawing you in with its familiarity, yet unsettling that image with a sinister side. In an anterior room are images rephotographed from her studio wall that gives an insight on how she works. Check it out until March 28, 2015.

The identical twin brothers Raoul and Davide Perré who are known as How and Nosm have executed 7 large scale canvases that are intricately painted in a black and white and magenta palette. Highly detailed and made from hand paintings and stencils, these large scale canvasses draw you in with an insane amount of detail and story line. Check it out through April 4, 2015.

This is an expansive exhibition by Subodh Gupta that showcases many varied pieces of common everyday elements of his Indian culture and amplified via volume and repetition to make them unique and special by their sheer volume. In this exhibition he deals constantly with the mundane and common elements as tools upon which he projects the uniqueness of the individual. The title draws from the amount of people currently on the earth and elevates the vastness of the common to identify the unique. Cool and expansive show worth checking out until April 25th 2015.
