Paintings and works on paper representing work from 2013-2015. Amazing work about the act of looking, pulling you into the experience of seeing, not necessarily what the content of the image is. The work is mesmerizing and has a very computerized feel as well as a crazy thickness of paint that feels surreal as if you are looking at the embroidery on the blouse of god. Pec-uliar. Gregory Crewdson @Gagosian — Cathedral of the pines, his latest set of images to be shown took 4 years in the making and 2 years of post-production which makes for an intense image maker. This show was big, loud and crowded, everyone naked and revealing themselves to the dark nature of real life. Open through 3-15-16. Check it out!

Raymond was there in person signing zones and skateboards and other ephemera for fans. He looked so sweaty and intense as if just being there was all he could muster through force of will. His exquisite corpse work with Marcel is very personal, intimate, and of a zine quality, It really refused the wall, which is pretty cool. The paper looked like it wanted to leave the wall and crawl home into the dank, dark quiet of a basement apartment. Check this out before it blows away…

Amazing show of Mark Ryden’s latest work. Amazing amount of detail to his process from painting on a lift with rollers to manufacturing the frames overseas to exacting specifications. There is no other world like his. Even the Fan Mom and Daughter dressed up and brought their favorite Mark Ryden dolls. It’s a macabre world where innocence and the gruesome comingal in an ethereal world. Check it out through January 23, 2016.

Such a cool show, so hard edged and graphic. the visuals just jump off the wall. It is so hard to get minimalistic visuals to make sense and to be balanced and in proportion. Check this show out and buy something!

Marke was present at the opening. He’s a very striking individual, 6′6″ African american guy, reed thin. No wonder that his canvasses are so big, it’s because he is too. I can just image him painting the tops of one of those massive pieces. The show is super cool. He book ends the show with 2 videos. Thoughtful videos. THe first one is a 3 projector piece that runs almost the length of the gallery and shows roller skating wheels “Kryptonic” wheels rolling in and bouncing out of frame. So cool when you realize that this gallery used to be a huge roller skating run. I whish they would put art in the middle and allow you to skate around it harkening it’s old glory days of the 1970′s.
The end video is a visual-less audio recording of a very racy and not political piece of a comedian riffing on Aids, Being African American and race in America. Funny that the show and 3 of the smaller pieces are named from the comedian’s riff piece.
Cool and complicated. Rockstar stuff.
