The work is mesmerizing and has a very computerized feel as well as a crazy thickness of paint that feels surreal as if you are looking at the embroidery on the blouse of god. Pec-uliar. Multiples and variations of lines, shapes, shocking colors and suns are typical of Sam Friedman’s abstract paintings at this show. Part of it feels very memphis in its style and experimentation. I’m feeling a strong 1980’s vibe here. Check it out through February 14, 2015.

Great show by one of London’s most famous practioner of street art. Very Pop like paintings with his trademark style. We met him in person and he’s really an affable guy. Great to meet him and check out this show. It’s great!

Heavy Party Load This Thursday—Maya Hayuk is having a show at the Cinders gallery pop-up location at 124 Forsyth Street in Manhattan with variously angled canvasses. Definitely worth checking out her latest work. Mike Weiss Gallery has a crazy electrically visual show by Cameron Gray entitled Gymnasty. Should be a great party and lots of intense visuals. Check it out!

Layered and painterly, these objects/paintings feel like found pieces that have been randomly put together. There are instances of felt and typography and haphazard application of paint that feels right and wrong. Check it out for yourself.

Great show by this intensely realistic painter. The images are a real look into the souls of the subjects, but something is off and completely unsettling. As if something is too good to be true. Many paintings reveal the dark side of this saccharin beauty. Most of the paintings are sold, but you can still check it out in person.

African American born in the Bronx. The work deals directly with race and it’s place in American Culture. The flag paintings are really cool. They are from very colorful african countries but have been stripped of their true colors. Very provocative and insightful work. Intense. Check it out.
Art’s BAAACK— Chinese muralist DALeast has a solo show at Jonathan Levine which should be packed. Flower graffiti and sticker slapper, Michael De Feo (The Flower Guy) is having a show at Rush Arts on the 3rd floor. Roxy Paine is showing at Marianne Boesky with a room sized work called Checkpoint. Fabricated from wood, this airport security checkpoint should be amazing to see in person. Check it out!
