Parra was there in person autographing very detailed and intricate individual illustrations for everyone who stopped by and said hi. He was wearing a cool hat that said “Tired”. I’m sure he was, the show was a huge color show at Jonathan Levine gallery. The flat look and trademark cartoon style of his characters could be seen from miles away. Fun show and approachable artist with approachable prices. Check it out through February 7, 2015

Very large scale works of ar that are created with 100% serendipity. each imprint is a paint-soap-bubble landing on the canvas based on how the physics of elements come together. What an interesting artist. A nice wide ranging show of photographs, film and interesting sculptures. Some Cindy Sherman type work as well as a table reading of his x-rated film Pink Flamingos table read by children in wigs. It’s historical if you remember the source material. The egg lady part got me. Definitely check this out. Though February 14, 2015

At first, I didn’t think I would like this work, but gradually it began to grow on me. There is an otherworldly ness about it and even though it looks very clumsily put together there is a very powerful structure underneath. Everything sits weightily on its plain on the canvas, everything has a heaviness. Very unique and very scandinavian sensibility. There are 2 large murals that accompany the show which make you feel like a doll in a doll house. Definitely worth checking out. On view though February 14, 2015

Erwin gave a talk about his photography which was very enlightening. He was very animated and very serious about the work, the process and what goes into the creation of each photograph. The title of the show is called “Waiting” which refers to the two extremes of his process. The longest is a still life which can take forever and the shortest being a blink which happens, as they say, in a blink. The picture above is him dealing with his own mortality and the depiction of his father’s end of life. To deal with the subject he recreated his father’s life as himself. He was very choked -up about the subject, but going through the process enabled him to deal with his own mortality. I believe there was a couple in the crowd who were subjects of one of his photographs. Very enlightening talk. Check out the show thorough February 28, 2015

A interesting set of suspended works, many in the from gallery are very phallic, which is her style. There is an assortment of textile and cast bronze as well as many different materials used, mostly depicting the body. There is a wonderful playfulness with all the works. Through January 10, 2015.

Snowy and LOTS of New Shows opening for The New Year!—Fun show of the night will be a solo Para show at Jonathan Levine Gallery on 23rd. Diana Thater explores the dung beetle, the species uses the Milky Way to orientate itself at night, currently the only insect known to do so. Should be worth checking out.

Great show created from scratch only a couple months ago. A ton of work here that fills every bit of space in this unique, huge gallery space here in Brooklyn. A bit of a hike to get here, but well worth it. It’s a chanced to own some Sweet Toof at a very affordable price. Check it out!

Great show by one of London’s most famous practioner of street art. Very Pop like paintings with his trademark style. We met him in person and he’s really an affable guy. Great to meet him and check out this show. It’s great!
