Abstract paintings that have a great deal of layers based on the idea of Sympathetic Strings, or strings that lie below other strings that aren’t plucked but still resonate the sound. Visually powerful and emanatic with a centrifical force.

Uneven show with a very cool projection with found items at the back of the gallery. The hands that were painted were amazing. Check it out before it closes December 19th.
Humidity— It’s getting steamy out there. This feels like summer. Great shows kicking off the summer especially at Mike Weiss Gallery. Very graphic and very fun work by Jerry Kearns and Nora York, check it out!

Great show of really internety type of photo-shoppy mashable image making by Olaf Breuning. The imagery is slightly tweaked things you’ve seen before, but the way they are put together with minimal artifice is really interesting—nice timeless quality to the work. Also a very interesting spherical format that the images are contained in. They rest against flimsy wooden frames that feels fleeting like something you’d see on the internet. This guy gets it. Check it out through July 31, 2015.

Obliteration Room
Every Yayoi show here at Zwirner is epic. So cool that they brought the Obliteration room from Australia to NYC. Day one, and the white walls of the suburban tract home are already getting covered with dots. The staff is a little controlling in the process, but such a cool and fun execution of her work. I feel like she is so much of a better conceptual artist than an executional artist. This show rocks. Bring your kids, they’ll have a blast! Through June 13th 2015.

GOAT. Favorite sculptor of all time. This guy was visionary and inspired generations of sculptors through the ages like Isamu Naguchi, etc. Cool to see such valuable works close at hand. Check it out through July 10, 2015.

Shrigley Doo—New David Shrigley gallery show at Anton Kern Gallery. His shows are always full of humor and insight. Sophisticated thinking with naive, child-like execution. His show is bound to make you smile :) Check it out! Also a couple of good sculpture shows at Metro pictures and Claire Oliver galleries. An as always a great party to be had at Freight & Volume with a show entitled Nest by Mi Ju.
