The Chinese artist deeply layers the paint in a very abstract way. Very formulaic and controlled. Also very drippy and deep at the same time. Mesmerizing. Check it out.
2 Good shows opening tonight—Claire Oliver has some really intriguing imagery that looks kind of diorama-y by the artist Norbert Brunner. Looks like some super cool visual art. Definitely check it out. Yancey Richardson Gallery has a show entitled Genesis by the photographer Sebastiao Salgado. Poignant work that showcases his eight-year project photographing the natural world in its pristine, untouched state. Check it out!
Nature and Abstraction—Nice set of openings this Thursday night. Joshua Liner Gallery has two openings, the first featuring the work by Tiffany Bozic. She paints from nature and goes out into the wild to experience the wild environment first hand. Unix gallery features Alfredo Scaroina, an Abstract painter which is next door to Berry Campbell which is showing abstract work from the estate of Stephen Pace. Check it out.

They have a realism that is slightly offóit throws you. Petzel Gallery has some haunting screen prints by John Stezaker at the petzel Gallery along with a film entitled ìBlindî which fires 24 frames a second at your retina of disparate images that induce a dream like state. Check it out.

Wayne White, Invisible Ruler
Joshua Liner Gallery, 540 West 28th
September 11- October 11th
Nina of the Joshua Liner gallery was kind enough to invite me to a preview of Wayne White’s Invisible Ruler show yesterday. The show includes Wayne’s signature word paintings, works on paper done during his resedency at the Rauschenberg Foundation and a 15-foot kinetic sculpture.
We here at West of Dirty are huge fans and in fact we made the 6+ hour round trip journey to York, PA to see his show “Foe” last April. Three of the Civil War sculpture heads from “Foe” can be seen in Joshua Liner. Last nights reception was a big hit with the artist on hand to meet.
Wayne White is in the House!— Joshua Liner Gallery has a great show featuring Wayne White of the early fame (Set decorator for the Pee Wee Herman Show) This will be a fun show with giant sized puppets from his residency in York, PA along with his brilliant word paintings. Show of the night. Check it out. (1)

Our Friend Fluid Metal
These sculptures created out of playground metal children’s spring rockers are loaded with metaphor and create a visual accumulation that resembles undersea coral. Removed from playgrounds all over the US because of their lead content, they take everyone of a certain age back to their childhood. Really fun and fun to be around sculptures. So glad that Gagosian Gallery now lets you photograph inside their buildings—this show is photo worthy! Check it out.
